500gr peanuts, raw and shelled
1 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons peanut oil
1 teaspoon honey
Preheat the oven to 175C.
Roast the shelled raw peanuts on a baking sheet in the oven for 15 – 20 minutes until golden brown. Rock ‘n roll the peanuts each 5 minutes so that they roast on all sides.
Let the roasted peanuts cool down a little.
Put the slightly warm peanuts to a food processor and whizz ’em up for about 30 seconds, until they’ve gone a bit grainy. Add the salt, oil and honey and whizz for another minute or so or until the mixture gets a creamy texture. Pause the whizzing for a short while to scrape the bits and pieces off the side. Whizz for another minute or 2 until you get the creamy peanut butter consistency, if you want you can gradually add a little more peanut oil for extra smoothness.
Peanut butter is delicious on a slice of fresh bread with some homemade jam, sliced banana, or even apple!
